Winners Announced for 10th Anniversary of Georgia Natural Gas TrueBlue Community Awards

Company’s program provides grants and recognition to deserving nonprWinnersnd final TrueBlue Community Awards and announce the winners. All of the organizations recognized, were able to pivot and actively respond to the needs of Georgia’s most vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 crisis.

“Over the years, nonprofit organizations from throughout Georgia have applied for the competitive awards and grants. We’ve been fortunate make site visits to some of the recipients over the years in places like Augusta and Savannah and witness their innovation and dedication first-hand,” says Maurice Baker, founder of the TrueBlue Awards.

We are especially grateful for the community support and positive feedback from our customers and community leaders. Each year, an independent panel of judges -- comprised of influential nonprofit, business, and media leaders, reviewed impressive applications from nonprofits to determine the winners. It is a difficult task.

Volunteers Brighten the Day for Children and Families at CHOA.

Georgia Natural Gas TrueBlue Crew Volunteers recently enjoyed spending time with patients and families at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The employee volunteers organized a t-shirt painting crafts event for the patients and a pizza party for the entire family. GNG has been a long-time supporter of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Children and education are a community focus of the company.

Meal Packing on 9/11 at the College Football Hall of Fame!

For many of us, 9/11 is a day to reflect on the first-responders and brave Americans affected by the events of that horrific day. Georgia Natural Gas employees honored dedicated Americans by volunteering to pack meals for deserving children and families in our area. A large group of GNG employees joined corporate volunteers and local nonprofits at the College Football Hall of Fame. Atlanta was one of eight cities across the country to participate in this exciting, meaningful event.

APS Back-to-School Bash.

Back-to-School always comes too soon, right? Georgia Natural Gas volunteers joined friends and colleagues from the corporate, nonprofit, and educational community to support the annual Back-to-School Bash serving Atlanta Public Schools’ students . It was an exciting day in which we gave away school supplies in conjunction with the Atlanta Partners for Education. We also sponsored the backpack giveaway which gives every student a brand new backpack to take back to school. Nearly 1,500 kids visited our booth at the event at the World Congress Center.

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Students Gain Real Experience With Us.

Georgia Natural Gas is a proud supporter of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. Every day, through the school year, students from the school come to our offices and intern. It’s an opportunity to learn and grow. They work in departments like marketing, accounting, and customer operations. The school has over a 95% college placement rate for the students. We’re always excited when they arrive at the beginning of the year, but it’s sad at the end of the year when they leave. Fortunately, many stay in touch!

We Love Our Seniors! Meals On Wheels Atlanta.

Georgia Natural Gas employees from our accounting department recently volunteered with Meals on Wheels. One of our colleagues has been delivering meals to seniors for over a decade and even inspired her colleagues to volunteer, too! Organizations like Meals on Wheels work hard to fill in the gaps and help our most vulnerable citizens - in many cases they are seniors. It was a joy to visit with seniors and we thank them for welcoming us into their homes.

Our award-winning employee volunteer program focuses on improving the lives of children and seniors from all areas of our great state.

In 2010, we received the prestigious IMPACT Award from the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta. We’ve also been awarded the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Category II Torch Awards for Community Service from the Better Business Bureau Serving Metro Atlanta, Athens and Northeast Georgia.

Our volunteers assist other organizations too.

Over the years, we’ve supported many wonderful organizations dedicated to great causes through company-recognized employee volunteerism and/or nonprofit board leadership.
